Displayed here are various annual report covers designed for the City of New York. These cover options were not used in the end. During my tenure at Creative Source, I worked on four reports for HYIC.
When designing the covers for Hudson Yards Infrastructure Corporation’s annual reports, we took inspiration from the architecture of some notable buildings within the Hudson Yards neighborhood. The covers above are abstract representation of The Shed. The Shed has an extendable shell with a distinct patterning, which we’ve rendered in a colorful color palette. We also explored using the pattern to act as a window, in which we could add photos of the developments in Hudson Yards.
Below there is an ethereal cover representing the Edge, which is one of the most recognizable buildings in Hudson Yards. The illustration shows its observation deck amongst the clouds. We also presented some ideas rendering the buildings into pictograms.
Mission Statement
“The Hudson Yards Infrastructure Corporation (the “Corporation”) is a local development corporation created in 2005 by the City of New York (the “City”) under the Not-For-Profit Corporation Law of the State of New York… The Corporation’s mission is to promote economic development and growth on the west side of mid-town Manhattan and conduct its activities in a cost-effective and efficient manner.”
